How do I become a patient?
Click the button above that says “New Patient” and fill out the intake form and Insurance Verification Form. We will get back to you within 7 business days to ask questions if needed and begin the intake process.
What patient populations do you specialize in? Any patients who may not be a good fit?
We treat children (10+), adolescents, and adults with a variety of mental health conditions. We do not have expertise in active eating disorders or substance use disorders, nor do we participate in medication assisted treatment (MAT). Due to the nature of our small practice, we also do not engage in case management work.
Crisis Management
As a small private practice, we have do not have the capacity to provide crisis management. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a mental health emergency, including suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, or a change in mental status, please call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency room. Depending on your geographical location, you can also contact Psychiatric Emergency Services, Community HealthLink or Riverside Community Care.
Appointment Length
Intake appointments typically are 45-60 minutes. Follow up appointments are typically 20-30 minutes, but this may vary based on personal preference, symptom acuity, and recommended treatment plan. Your provider encourages a rich discussion of your current lifestyle, goals, and struggles so that you may get the best possible care. Appointments are usually scheduled every 2-3 weeks in the beginning of treatment, but this interval extends to a maximum of 3 months.
What are my responsibilities as a patient?
As a patient of Stillwater Consulting, you are the most important member of your treatment team. As such, it is essential that you arrive on time for appointments, are open and honest in your conversation with your provider, and that you are willing to attend follow up appointments at the interval recommended by your provider. In addition, it is important that you meet your financial obligations to the practice.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. All cancellations/reschedules must occur at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation fee. We understand that emergencies do occur, so we are able to waive this fee once per year. Frequent cancellations/missed appointments may result in termination of the therapeutic relationship and discharge from the practice.
Mutual Respect and Diversity
As a trauma-informed practice, we value inclusivity and diversity, and expect kindness and mutual respect in all interactions. We have a zero tolerance policy for aggression, violence, or disrespect toward staff or patients. Any violation of this policy will result in discharge from the practice.
Clinical Boundaries and Communication
You will meet with your nurse practitioner during your scheduled session. Please make every effort to request refills, documentation, or express other needs during this time. Your provider will be available for true emergencies after hours. However, any clinical questions, refills, or scheduling needs will be addressed during normal business hours. Please note that refills requested after noontime on Fridays will be addressed the following Monday.
